Shawn Garland is a Missouri artist working primarily in watercolor and acrylic, with a particular love for landscapes, plein air painting, portraiture, and commissioned artwork. A significant part of her studio practice is creating custom pieces for individuals, families, businesses, and specific spaces, ranging from people, pets, and architecture to larger-scale works. She enjoys the collaborative nature of commission work and the challenge of creating artwork that holds a personal connection for its owner.

Her own work is guided by observation, color, atmosphere, and a strong sense of place. Whether working outdoors or in the studio, Shawn is continually exploring new techniques and approaches while maintaining a commitment to representational art and the individual character of her subjects. She has been voted one of the Top Three Northland Kansas City Artists for nine consecutive years.

Shawn has also taught adult art classes for more than 30 years, sharing both traditional skills and her belief that artistic growth comes through continued practice and exploration. She is a former gallery owner of five years and an experienced arts event organizer, creating exhibitions, festivals, plein air events, and other opportunities that bring artists and the community together.
