Erik and his alter ego, Blipey the Clown, have spent the past 25+ years listening to and telling all kinds of stories: funny, sad, terrifying, and most things in between. While the 2 stage personas have different aesthetics, they share the goal of “anti-mindless” entertainment. Whether you go to see a show with Erik or Blipey, they hope you leave with something to think about or–even better–talk about.

Erik’s first love has always been live theatre and since finishing his undergraduate theatre studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, he has been lucky enough to perform for incredibly diverse audiences across the country. He firmly believes that the best way to advance society is by developing and sharing new stories from new voices. After working on 30+ original plays, he believes this more than ever.

When not treading the boards in plays, Erik also spends time helping other humans unlock their own stories. He has taught acting, Shakespeare, and stage combat to teens & tweens for Theatre of the Imagination. He has also toured the country as a performer and teaching artist for Poetry Alive!, helping people aged 5 to 75 put their words to action.

Performing as Blipey, Erik uses object manipulation and often non-verbal storytelling to explore the different ways humans connect to each other and the world around them. A resident teaching artist with No Divide KC’s “Arts Spark” program, Blipey helps teens across greater Kansas City to find their inner clown.
