For artist Catherine Kirkland, current visual arts pursuits follow a 35+ year career as an art director, graphic designer and production manager in advertising and publishing.  After becoming an exhibiting artist in 2013, she has mounted solo shows locally and regionally, and has juried into many group exhibits. Her work has been acquired by many collectors, both public and private. She has won many awards, including 2023 Best of Show in the annual Lenexa Artists’ Show, and in July, 2024, she was voted Best Artist of Johnson County 2024.

Ms. Kirkland works in four distinct styles, but is best known for her highly detailed, neo-pointillism technique. With both conventional and unconventional tools, she creates movement and modeling with thousands of individually applied dots, that swirl over her underpainting design. Catherine takes delight in watching exhibit guests view her art from afar, then draw closer and react with amazement at the layers of color and dots that create the image.

In addition to exhibiting her work, Ms Kirkland offers practical, custom print-on-demand merchandise, featuring her artwork, at her online shop. The link can be found on her web site.
